The game play in itself is what makes DFO so addicting. It plays like any old-school 2D beat up, and shares similar visuals. I literally felt like I was in the arcade, only without losing all of my quarters. Dungeons are instanced to your party, and they are split up into sections with monsters scattered throughout each and a boss waiting in the final area. Like in other MMOs, skills are learned through leveling up and then assigned to a hot bar. While the same goes for DFO Gold, skills can also be executed with button inputs, similar to Street Fighter. This makes game play more engaging, fun, and satisfying when pulling off those moves.
There are numerous dungeons to go through, and each one is labeled by what level the players should be. Each dungeon also has various difficulty levels that, when revisited, yield higher rewards to players. Also, at the end of each dungeon the player gets a score based on the overall damage, the amount of contribution to the party, and other overall performance statistics.
